This all day programme is designed to give Members and Officers
an overview of the Licensing Act 2003, The Gambling Act 2005
and the process necessary for a fair hearing under the respective
regulations. It will explore the role of Members, outline the
history of the transfer, explain the key issues in both laws,
detail the procedures necessary for a fair hearing and end
with a quiz.
By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:
- Appreciate how the new laws will impact on Councils, Residents
and Businesses.
- Understand the licensing objectives and what is licensable
under each law.
- Understand the various types of licence and who has the
responsibility for granting each type.
- Understand the similarities and key differences between
the Licensing and Gambling Acts.
- Test their understanding of the day by completing the “Chamber
Quiz” with self assessment.
