Based on the evidence in Scotland and Ireland there will be a number of licensees who provide shelters which do not meet the requirements of the smoking ban, fall foul of conditions on their licence and do not make the necessary application for planning permission. The net result - large expense and loss of custom.

• Discussion with Local Planning Authority.
• Preparation of planning statement and application (including any variations identified in 2b).
• Preparation of certificate A or B.
• Deposit of application and payment of planning fee (£135).
• Ongoing negotiation with Local Planning Authority.
• Track progress and statutory timescales.
